The Spirit of the Border: A Romance of the Early Settlers in the Ohio Valley

New York: A.L. Burt Company, 1906. First edition, second issue. Hardcover. 266pp.+ [10 pp of advertisements at back]. Octavo [19 cm] Original blue-gray cloth with red and black ink stamped titles and designs on the spine and front cover. Good. The edges of the covers are gently bumped and rubbed. There is a barely perceptible stain on the front cover. The spine is slightly rolled and faded. There are numerous small splits in the cloth at the ends of the spine. There is a small scuff mark on the bottom edge of the text block. Previous owner's name, along with a date on the front free endsheet. There is a thin 1 and 1/2 inch long glue stain along the front hinge, indicating that a crack in the front endsheet was probably glued.
