Master Steiner is dressed in tall boots and a uniform with cap of some
kind. He is the son of George Steiner, founder of Steiner Corporation (American Linen Supply Co., now Alsco). The linen supply industry did not exist until 1889, when George A. Steiner started his own part-time towel delivery service, a growing business which he moved to Salt Lake shortly thereafter. In 1918, George's son, Frank, invented and patented his first original product, a continuous towel dispensed by a specialized cabinet. In 1922 the Steiner Sales Company was created to manufacture his product. By 1948, it was in use all across the United States.
The photographer, C. R. Savage, emigrated from England to Utah, and became a renowned landscape and studio portrait photographer.
