From the description at the beginning of the book, "B. Traven's novels about the down-trodden people of Mexico- The Treasure of the Sierra Madre, The Death Ship, The Rebellion of the Hanged- have earned him a remarkable reputation, nearly 300 different editions, translation into twenty-three languages and phenomenal sales. They have also been made into memorable films."
