Chicago: National Historical Record Co., 1902. First edition. Leather bound. Quarto. 654pp. Original, full dark brown leather binding with gilt stamped title to front cover and spine. Gilt rolled edges. All edges gilt. Pictorial endsheets. Fair only. The front cover is partially detached. There are two small white stains on the front cover, and the top fore edge corner of the front cover is mildly stained. There are several losses from the leather at the ends of the spine. The largest loss is to the leather at the foot of the spine, and measures 2 and 1/2 inches wide by just under 1/2 of an inch deep. The underlying boards are exposed at the corners. There is a small loss from the bottom corner of the front free endsheet, and the rear endsheet has a 3 inch long crack along the hinge. The text block is cracked at the center. Occasional light offsetting from the illustrations. A small amount of pages have light stains. Item #25547
