New York: The Macmillan Company, 1951. First edition. Hardcover. SIGNED. 204pp. Octavo [21.5 cm] Brownish red cloth covered boards with a light gray ink stamped title on the spine and simple orange ink stamped designs on the spine and front cover. Very good. The edges of the covers are gently rubbed and bumped. The endsheets are darkened. The pages are mildly browned. There is a small light stain on the contents page. There is a large loss from the bottom corner of p. 169/70, obscuring a little bit of the text. There is also a one inch closed tear in the fore edge margin of this page as well. The dust jacket is in good condition only. The spine and edges are heavily darkened. There is a three inch closed tear in the top edge of the front panel. There are numerous small losses from the slightly creased edges. The jacket is also lightly foxed, and has multiple tiny or barely perceptible stains. There is a larger moisture stain on the spine that measures 1 inch wide by 2 inches tall. Item #26759
