Smoky the Cow Horse

Hardcover. 310pp. Octavo [21 cm] Green cloth covered boards with black ink stamped titles on the spine and front cover, and a small brown ink stamped horse vignette on the front cover. Good only. The covers are just a little bit warped. Extremities lightly rubbed. The spine ends and corners of the covers are bumped. The cloth at the ends of the spine and edges of the covers is frayed. There is very minor darkening along the joints of the spine. The front hinge is weak, and the rear endsheet is cracked along the hinge. The text block is cracked at p. 51 and p. 115. Yellowed pages. There are very occasional small light stains on the pages. Item #30592

Illustrated by the Author. Born in Canada, Ernest DuFault left home at the age of 15 and traveled west to seek out his dream. He became the American cowboy, Will James. Beginning at the bottom, he worked and became a top hand. Handling rough horses filled his days and became the basis for many of his books.
