New York: Simon and Schuster, 1955. First edition. Paperback. Quarto [24.5 cm] Yellow, black and white illustrated wraps. Very good. The extremities are rubbed and mildly creased. The spine and covers are also lightly stained. The spine is slanted, and there are small losses from the paper at the ends of the spine. There are 4 one inch long closed tears at the ends of the spine, along the joints. There is a former owner's name on the verso of the front cover, and there is a small erased notation on the front free endsheet. The pages are mildly browned, and the corners of the pages are a little bumped. Item #30708

Walt Kelly's career in animation began in 1936 at Walt Disney Studios, where he contributed to Pinocchio and Fantasia. In 1941, Kelly resigned at the age of 28 to work at Dell Comics, where he created Pogo.
