There is a former owner's bookplate on the front pastedown, along with a gift inscription on the front free endsheet. The edges of the rear pastedown are lightly damp stained. The 1858-60 diary of Captain Albert Tracy, an officer in Johnston's Army, contains many illuminating glimpses of life in an army camp. The author's vivid descriptions and understated humor make it a joy to read.
