Los Angeles, CA: Privately printed by Young & McCallister, 1927. Limited Edition. Hardcover. 221pp. Quarto [ 27.5 cm] Red cloth with paper label on backstrip. Very good. Sunning and light rubbing to the backstrip and extremities. There are several small, barely perceptible damp stains on the boards. The spine ends and corners of the covers are a little bumped. There are multiple tiny, dark stains on the top edge of the text block. The front endsheet is darkened along the hinge, and there are 4 cracks in the rear endsheet along the hinge. The longest crack measures just under 4" long. The text block is cracked a couple of times at the beginning, however the book is still sturdy. Item #35788

Of this edition one thousand copies have been printed of which this is number 148. History of Warner's Ranch, a place well know in the varied annals of Southern California. California History has been in no small part a matter of communication,and Warner's Ranch stands out, for it held a strategic position in overland trade and contact. Anza's trail just missed its eastern edge. San Jose Valley was on the highway to Sonora. Through it American trappers found a trail. Past Warner's marched Kearney's army and the Mormon Battalion in the American conquest. During the Gold Rush the mountain oasis was a half-way station between the Colorado River and the Pacific Ocean.
