New York: Charles Scribner's Sons. N.C. Wyeth. 1924 printing of the Charles Scribner's edition illustrated by N. C. Wyeth. Hardcover. 356pp. Quarto [24 cm] Black cloth with the title stamped in bright gilt on the backstrip, and a large illustrated paper label on the front cover. Publisher's pale red top stain. Pictorial endsheets. Very good. The edges are dinged, and there is a 1 and 1/2" long deep indentation in the board near the bottom edge of the front cover. The covers are very slightly concave, and there are numerous areas of light abrasion on the rear cover. The spine is a bit rolled, and the hinges are a little soft. The price clipped dust jacket is in very good condition, with age-toning and numerous small losses from the edges. The largest loss is from the paper at the head of the jacket's spine. The loss measures 1" wide by 3/4" deep. There are a couple of small, light moisture stains on the spine of the jacket as well. A couple of closed tears in the edges have been neatly mended.
