Quarto [28.5 cm] Navy blue cloth over boards with a white ink stamped title and seabird vignette on the front cover. Pictorial endpapers. The extremities are lightly rubbed, and the spine ends are bumped. There is some minor staining along the bottom edge of the front cover. There is a gift inscription on the half title page. With the illustrated dust jacket. The edges of the jacket have a number of small losses and closed tears. Rubbed at the edges, and lightly stained on the reverse. Very good / good +. Item #47331

Holling Clancy Holling (1900-1973) was a teacher, freelance designer, advertising artist, and book illustrator. With the aid of his wife Lucille, he illustrated The Book of Indians (1935) and The Book of Cowboys (1936). He went on to write and illustrate fiction, combining nature and history themes.
