1973. Unadorned, index card style postcard (14 cm x 8 cm), with three typed lines and Asimov's signature in ink, typed address on reverse. Small punctures as from a staple, and a few tiny stains. Item #48663
Short note dated 22 September 1973: "Dear Mr. M----, I'm afraid I'll disappoint you but all that stuff about pionizers and other Universes was strictly fictional. Isaac Asimov".
Asimov refers to his Hugo and Nebula Award-winning 1972 novel, The Gods Themselves, which he has described as "the biggest and most effective over-my-head writing I ever produced" (I, Asimov). The 'pionizers' in the book are small-scale particle accelerators.
