Plates + 367; 394pp. Very thick quartos [29.5 cm] Black cloth covered boards with gilt stamped titles on the spines, and blind stamped decorative designs on the covers. Part 1 is in fair condition, while Part 2 is in good condition. The covers are lightly rubbed. The underlying boards are exposed occasionally along the edges, and the edges of the covers are bumped. The pages are mildly browned. The spine of Part 1 is faded, and there are numerous large tears and chips in the cloth at the head of the spine. The largest tear is a horizontal closed tear that measures two inches. There is also a small loss from the cloth at the foot of the spine. The hinges of Part 1 are broken. The front free endsheet is absent. The text block is coming away from the covers, and is cracked multiple times. There is an ink stamp on the title page. Part 2 has been rebacked, with a majority of the spine overlaid. The spine is slightly rolled back. The endsheets are rippled. The text block is cracked at the beginning, and again in the middle. There are numerous blind stamps and ink stamps on the front endsheet and pages at the beginning of the text. Item #50564
