Washington DC: Government Printing Office, 1886. Hardcover. 770pp. Large quarto [30 cm] Dark reddish brown cloth covered boards with a gilt stamped title on the spine. Fair condition only. Ex-library. The extremities are heavily rubbed. There are small losses from the cloth at the ends of the spine, and there are numerous tears in the cloth at the head of the spine and along the joints. There is also a small open tear in the surface of the spine. Library label on the spine. The underlying boards are visible at the corners. There are library stamps on the edges of the text block. The hinges are broken, the underlying cords are visible, and the text block has almost completely come away from the covers. There are a handful of library marks, along with a bookseller's label, on the foxed endsheets, and the free endsheets are partially detached. Chipping to the endsheets and flyleaves along the edges. Tanned pages. The pages at the beginning have small light moisture stains in the fore edge corners, and there are thin 2 inch long abraded areas in the paper along the fore edges of the frontispiece page and title page. The text block is cracked multiple times. Page 103 is completely detached, but present. *Missing the plate at p. 6. May require extra postage due to weight. Item #50575
