The Brok Windsor comics are part of a collection known as the "Canadian Whites." They were created by Winnipeg-turned Vancouver artist Jon Stables and originally published by Maple Leaf Publishing in Better World Comics. The strips lasted from between 1944-1946.
Windsor is a doctor who crash lands on a magical island that is inhabited by 7 foot tall residents. One such resident, Torgon, son of a deposed leader of the Blackpaw tribe, joins Brok in his adventures. Also joining Brok is Starra the lovely, imprisoned descendent of a malicious British ghost.
The book was edited by Hope Nicholson, who also published "Nelvana of the Northern Lights". It was made possible by a Kickstarter campaign, and includes one of the prizes -- a commissioned sticker illustrated by Ken Steacy, titled "Brok Samples the Maples". There is a certificate of authenticity on the front free end paper, signed by Hope Nicholson with the edition number 935.
