Publisher's red text block edges. Volume 1 has been rebacked, with the majority of the original spine overlaid, and with new endsheets and flyleaves. The extremities are heavily rubbed. The second flyleaves have a contemporary owner's name along with the notation, "London, April 9- 06." A dozen or so pages have markings and underlining. The front cover of volume 2 is cosmetically cracked along the joint. The front cover of volume 3 has completely detached with the first few pages of front matter, but the title page and the pages following it are tightly connected to the spine. The rear joint of this volume has been restored. The leather backstrip of volume 3 has several prominent chips in the surface. May require extra postage due to weight. Good. Item #51423
