[Signed block print from Gods' Man]

[New York]: [Jonathan Cape & Harrison Smith], 1929. An original print from Ward's first and most famous wordless novel. Printed from the original woodblock on very thin translucent paper, the image measures 7.5 cm x 13 cm. Signed in pencil by Ward under the image in the right corner, with "Gods' Man - 1929" printed in pencil opposite. Fine. Item #52161

The image is the first appearance of the mysterious masked figure with whom the protagonist strikes his Faustian bargain. Presumably printed in a minuscule print run as a keepsake from the author and publisher. Gods' Man was the first American wordless novel.

Price: $1,500.00
