Vertigo was the sixth of Ward's great wordless novels. Vertigo tells the story of the Great Depression through three intertwining stories of greed, love, death and despair. Ward produced six wordless novels between 1929 and 1937, and although Ward continued to be an in demand illustrator for the rest of his life, these early works find him at the absolute height of his creative and artistic powers. This copy is signed by Lynd Ward on the half title page.
