"These songs are sung with love for the living; my mother, Nancy Stringfellow, the keeper of the taproot of our family tree... my oldest daughter Leslie, a wandering one who has strayed far and cannot always find her way... Her daughter, my first grandchild, Elisa Donetta, one of lifes brightest lights... My middle daughter Shelley, her eyes are kind and full of light and she holds down her own piece of ground wherever she is... Holly my dark-eyed friend and youngest daughter, constant and filled with promise and hope... Kevin, the magic kid, my last born, struggling still towards manhood among the thorns and flowers. The flowers, his children, Ryand David and Jillayne Leondra. These songs are sung with love for the dear memory of: my father, Walter Pendleton Stringfellow. He was lithe and strong till the day he died. He could name every bird, flower, stone and tree on the skin of our western lands. He could walk two blocks on his hands and did it all the time. And he would have waltzed with bears. My son David, my best road manager... He could drive 24 hours without getting tired, crossed or lost... He wanted to be Neal Cassidy and I guess he died trying. I want to thank Bruce Carver, he not only helped me make these songs into music, but he has been my friend when it was not easy."
