An exhibition catalogue of German Expressionist works on paper. From the foreword- "While German Expressionism began as a reaction against academic styles of the period, it went on to embrace many new arresting ideas: concerns for social reform; creation of a new art with which to bring about what was hoped would be a new enlightened age; mankind's rediscovery of its spiritual self. Their works on paper functioned as missionaries for these new concepts and were produced in large quantities and in a wide range of qualities and styles made readily available in the form of tabloids, journals, illustrated books, and print portfolios."
