Redford played the role of the Sundance Kid to Paul Newman's Butch Cassidy in the acclaimed Hollywood film. This book was Redford's attempt to ride the Outlaw Trail through Wyoming and Utah, beginning at the famed Hole-in the Wall and ending up at Robber's Roost and the Glen Canyon country in Southern Utah. Profusely illustrated with contemporary and historical photographs of Butch and Sundance, Ettta Lay, Matt Warner, Kid Curry & other famous outlaws and lawmen. Joining Redford for his ride was amateur historian Kerry Ross Boren and the late author Edward Abbey (Desert Solitaire, The Monkey Wrench Gang) who quit the ride early on. Redford comments on Abbey's flute playing and there is a photograph of Abbey in the book.
