Two Menus and Two Decorative Prints

Paris: c. 1885- 1890. Print. [Four 28.5cm x 20cm images on 42.5cm x 33.8cm mats in 47.2cm x 38.7cm frames] Two menus and two accompanying decorative prints.
The first menu is dated April 8th, 1855, and is from the Hotel Continental in Paris. It was the menu for the 34th banquet of "la chambre syndicale des imprimeurs- lithographes". This menu features a male chef with a happy expression carrying a tray of drinks and a rolling pin behind a palette and paintbrushes printed in red. There are some subtle circular stains to the head of the menu but otherwise is tear and blemish-free.
The second menu is dated April 15, 1890. It was the menu of the banquet held for Jules Chéret by his friends in celebration of his nomination to the Legion of Honor. This menu features a more serious female chef cooking in a busy kitchen, printed in white and red. This menu is creased once vertically and three times horizontally, and has a dampstain in the lower left corner.
The two accompanying prints feature fantastic kitchen scenes by Chéret in, one printed in dark brown and white, the other in black and white. Both are stain and blemish free. Very good. Item #58980
