From the introductory text-
"In the early eighties, Peter Lindbergh invented a new way of photographing and interpreting fashion. He was born in Germany, near the Polish border, in 1944 and spent his childhood in Duisburg, in the heart of the Ruhr, an industrialised region whose landscape is imprinted in part of his work. Lindbergh studied drawing and painting at the Krefeld Academy of Arts. Though he only became interested in the camera at the relatively late age of twenty-seven, he is now recognised as the undisputed master of black-and white photography."
