The free endpapers are heavily darkened, and the rear free endpaper is adhered to the rear flyleaf along the inside margin. The recto of the frontispiece is foxed, and the versos of the plates are lightly foxed. There is a bookseller's ticket on the front pastedown. A lovely binding. Very good. Item #61130

With twelve color plates, all present, illustrated by Arthur Rackham. From the Publisher's Note- "The Publishers make no apology for a new edition of this 'evergreen' book. They feel that the fine drawings of Mr. Arthur Rackham are a sufficient raison d'etre for their appearance in this new form. Most of the designs appeared as line drawings in an edition issued by the present publishers in 1899, but they have since been worked over, revised, and coloured by the artist, while some entirely new designs have been added. The edition is designed virginibus puerisque. J. M. Dent & Co."
