Lavishly illustrated.

An attractive set covering the life of the famous Scottish missionary and explorer in Africa. He was the first European to reach Lake Ngami in 1849 and the first to reach Luanda from the interior in1854. He is also known for his attempt to find the source of the Nile (1867-1871), an attempt which failed, and which resulted in him being found by Henry Morton Stanley in failing health in 1871. Livingstone refused to leave and was discovered dead two years later by African aides. (Britannica.com).
