Hardcover. 258pp. Octavo [20.5 cm] 1/4 green cloth with tan paper over boards, and a printed paper title label on the front cover. Title page printed in black and red. Fore and bottom edges deckled. Frontispiece portrait of Dr. John Morgan from the oil portrait by Angelica Kauffmann, 1764. Seven additional illustrated plates within text. Front hinge discreetly lined with tissue. Text block cracked a few times. Several areas of the paper title label have perished. Underlying boards exposed periodically along the edges, as well as on the surface of the front board. Endpapers a bit discolored along the hinges and edges. The pages themselves are quite with the exception of some occasional minor darkening along the gutters. Very good minus. Item #62332

Of Welsh descent, John Morgan (1735-1789) is considered as the Founder of Public Medical Instruction in America. He was the surgeon general of the Continental armies during the American Revolution.
