Endicott was the third commanding officer of the "Glide". When she shipwrecked in 1831, he heard his crew yell in the night "She drags! She drags!". What followed was an extended encounter with the natives of Fiji. This book contains black and white plates of illustrations and photographs of Fijian architecture, teeth, and tools. The author records some of the language that he observed during his time with the natives at the end of the book. Forster 43.
