Portfolio Edition of the Facsimile Edition. 31 lavish large format color plates with Abbeville Press / Library of Congress watermarks housed in a large elephant portfolio box [23 inches tall by 16 inches wide]. With 24 pages including title pages and introductory material. The plates are in fine condition. The portfolio box, bound in 3/4 red cloth with ivory white cloth and lined with marbled paper, is in good condition only. It is a bit warped and has areas of light staining, more so the rear board. The very top edge of Plate 26 is lightly damp stained, not affecting the image. *****Will definitely require extra postage due to size and weight. Orders outside of the United States are strongly discouraged because of the high postage. Item #63302

This facsimile edition reproduces a copy of the New York edition of 1845 and incorporates six additional plates from the London edition of 1844 not included in the American edition. The plates of this facsimile were printed in collotype by Jaffé Lithographers of Vienna, Austria, on acid-free paper.

The edition is limited to 950 sets, issued either bound or in portfolio format. The set is signed by Dana J. Pratt, Director of Publishing, Library of Congress, and Robert E. Abrams, President of Abbeville Press. This is set #306.
