A catalogue raisonné of the visual work of Eva Hesse, from 1936-1970. Hesse was a third generation abstract expressionist who was originally trained as a painter. Her sculpture work mirrors the studio practice of intuitive painting, as she often sculpted without plans or blueprints spontaneously. After her family fled Germany in the 1930s, she attended New York's School of Industrial Art and graduated at 16. Her career was cut short when she died of a brain tumor at the age of 34.
