Saturday, Nov 25, 2017 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Small Business Saturday was first observed in 2010 as a response to the overnight camp-outs and trample-inducing hysteria caused by big-box stores’ Black Friday mad markdowns. Independent retailers offer more than just a homey feel and personalized customer service; small, local businesses are a vital part of a state’s economic structure!
According to findings from Local First Utah, spending just 10% more at local businesses would keep approximately $1.3 billion in the Utah economy each year! Their research shows that “local retailers return more than half of their revenue to the local economy, versus just 13.6% from national chain retailers.”
For over twenty years we have been a small business located in the heart of downtown. This year, on November 25th, we have the honor of hosting a Small Business Saturday event. As such, the shop will be filled with members of the Department of Economic Development, Salt Lake City Council Members, Salt Lake Chamber leadership, members of Local First, and special guest, actor Reid Ewing, who stars as Dylan on the hit television series Modern Family!
Participants will be admitted right as doors open for the day, and shopping will be followed by remarks and a proclamation from the City to Local First. Afterward, the whole crowd will visit our neighbors at Vive Juicery for refreshments.
We’re excited to be the venue for this event, and (in support of Small Business Saturday) we will be offering special deals this upcoming weekend! Keep an eye out for details!
