Kate MacLeod – Recording Live at Ken Sanders Rare Books (August 4, 2012, 8pm)

Kate MacLeod has been compared to many of the influential artists of her genre including Emmylou Harris, Joni Mitchell, Nanci Griffith, Joan Baez, Richard Thompson, and Loreena McKennitt. Sing Out! Magazine says, "Kate MacLeod channels the spirit of the great Carter Family classics." Hear Kate in a one-of-a-kind event at Ken Sanders Rare Books on August 4, 2012. This intimate concert, with just Kate and her guitar, will be recorded for her upcoming recording project. By reserving your seat, you'll not only be part of an evening of music but will be supporting the production and reserving in advance a prepaid copy of the recording, Live at Ken Sanders Rare Books, to be released by Waterbug Records in 2013.

This performance will feature Kate's collection of songs based on books, books such as Blue Highways, The Mists of Avalon, Anam Cara and a biography about Butch Cassidy. Some of these songs date back to the early 1980s during her early years of writing and stretch over a time span that includes new songs written this year. It's logical that this collection of songs be recorded in a bookstore, and where better than in a bookstore with the motto “creating chaos out of anarchy for a better tomorrow.” Ken Sanders has a long history of promoting the arts and literature and has hosted hundreds of book signings, concerts and art exhibitions, including the State of Utah's largest-ever poetry reading.

Tickets are $15 and can be purchased through Ken Sanders Rare Books.
