170pp. Octavo [21.5 cm] 1/4 orange cloth with yellow paper covered boards. Illustrated endsheets. Good. There are 4 dark tape stains on the edges of the covers. The extremities are also very gently bumped and rubbed. The edges of the text block are slightly stained, and the top edge has a dark dot-like stain. Subtle spine roll. There are two light tape stains on the front endsheet. The rear free endsheet has a large glue stained patch. In a very good dust jacket. Very mildly rubbed, soiled and age-toned. The edges are just a little bumped and chipped. The original price has been rubbed out. There are a couple of thin two inch long stains on the internal, non-visible side of the jacket. A very attractive dust jacket.

From the dust jacket- "The title story is a masterly short novel about life in a decaying tropical town in Colombia-Macondo by name- and the cycles of hope and despair, tragedy and comedy that grip the inhabitants with the regularity of the rains and the heat that dominate their lives."
