Large portfolio containing 111 loose mounted plates (complete), Folio sized booklet containing descriptions of the plates (in Cyrillic) and a smaller octavo sized booklet with short descriptions of the plates (in English). Portfolio is an olive green cloth with decorative stamping and titles in Cyrillic on front. The loose plates and both booklets are in near fine condition. The portfolio is worn, with a split to the bottom edge. Includes eleven full color plates.Extra charges apply on this item due to weight. Item #10167

Originally compiled in Iran in the middle of the eighteenth century by Muhammad-Hadi, Muhammad-Baqir and Muhammad-Sadiq. In 1921 the album was acquired from the Russian Museum to which it had been given in 1910 as a personal gift of Emperor Nikolai II. It has been housed since in the permanent collection of the Institute for the History of Material Culture in Leningrad (formally known as the Leningrad Branch of the Institute of the Peoples of Asia).
