New York: Simon and Schuster, 1954. First edition. Paperback. Quarto [24.5 cm] Illustrated wraps. Good. The spine and covers are rubbed and slightly creased and darkened. The covers also have numerous small light stains. There is a 1 inch closed tear in the bottom edge of the front wrap. Minor slant. The spine ends are a little chipped. There is a previous owner's name that has been blotted out with moisture on the front free endsheet. The fore edges of many of the pages have thin subtle damp stains. Browned pages. Item #30714

Walt Kelly's career in animation began in 1936 at Walt Disney Studios, where he contributed to Pinocchio and Fantasia. In 1941, Kelly resigned at the age of 28 to work at Dell Comics, where he created Pogo.
