There is a large tear in the paper at one of the corners, and there is a previous owner's bookplate on the inside of the box. The suites are in fine condition. Complete. This is copy number 1261 of twenty-eight hundred portfolios (2500 single suites) of Thomas Rowlandson's Medical Caricatures, printed for the members of Editions Medicina Rara Ltd., on permanent, natural Curtis Rag laid paper bearing the private watermark of Medicina Rara, and manufactured by The Curtis Paper Company, Neward, Delaware. The plates for printing were produced from twelve original aquatints, ten in the collection of Medicina Rara and two from the Philadelphia Museum of Art: Smith, Kline & French Laboratories Collection.
