Brian Aldiss was voted Best Contemporary Writer of Science Fiction shortly before this was published. Inscribed on the front free endsheet, "Salutations to Salt Lake City- which luckily for itself is not mentioned in this post-apocalyptic farce from Brian W. Aldiss, '84." Also on this page, is the author's red ink stamp, bearing the initials "BWA," and the notation in pen, "This is the authorized edition."
