Inspired version. Joseph Smith worked on his translation of the scriptures during the 1830’s. With his death in 1844, the manuscript passed to his wife and it wasn’t published until 1867. Though Smith’s translations were based on the King James version of the Bible, he altered over 3,000 passages. According to the book’s preface, the translation "was done by direct revelation from God."
