A striking image from the renowned pioneer Mormon photographer, Charles Roscoe Savage, who is best known for his images of the linking of the transcontinental railroad at Promontory Point, Utah. Savage was a prolific photographer of the American West in general, and of Utah and the Mormon experience in particular. He is noted for taking the first photographs of what would later become Zion National Park, and he thoroughly documented the construction of the Mormon Temple and Tabernacle during the early settlement and development of Salt Lake City.
