The Royal Coal Company was owned by H. H. Rolapp. Royal is a mining ghost town in Carbon County. It was one of the original coal camps in the county and was first known as Bear Canyon, then Cameron, then Rolapp, then ultimately Royal when it was purchased by the Royal Coal Company. Mine production slowed down by 1950 and the residents moved away.
