"Arkham House books are bound in Holliston Black Novelex, stamped in gold leaf, printed on Winnebago Eggshell. All Arkham House books are limited editions, with the exception of the collected work of H.P. Lovecraft....Founded in Autumn 1939 to publish the work of H.P. Lovecraft, Arkham House has become the leading and indeed the unique outlet for books in the general domain of fantasy, embracing the supernatural, the macabre, science-fiction, horror, whimsy and those generally imaginative flights of fancy that defy classification elsewhere. Arkham House has published, in addition to Lovecraft, the work of A.E. Coppard, Lord Dunsany, Arthur Machen, Algernon Blackwood, H. Russell Wakefield, Clark Ashton Smith, Ray Bradbury, A. E. Van Vogt, Henry S. Whitehead, L.P. Hartlet, Lady Cynthia Asquith, August Derleth, Donald Wandrei, Colin Wilson, J. Sheridan Le Fanu, Leah Bodine Drake, Frank Belknap Long, William Hope Hodgson, Fritz Leiber, Carl Jacobi, Robert E. Howard, Seabury Campbell, Robert Bloch, Joseph Payne Brennan, Manly Wade Wellman, Greye La Spina, Zealia Bishop, Evangeline Walton, David H. Leller, S. Fowler Wright, Stanley McNail, and proposes to publish in the near future books by Margery Lawrence, M.P. Shiel, Brian Lumley, Denys Val Baker, L. Sprague de Camp, Lin Carter, Donald Fryer, and others, in addition to new books from authors previously on the Arkham House-Mycroft and Moran lists" --from the verso of front wrap of 1977 Stock List.
