Gary Snyder (born 1930) is an important literary figure from the Beat Generation whose work remains extremely relevant to this day. Snyder has been dubbed The Poet Laureate of Deep Ecology. Snyder's book, Turtle Island, won the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1975.
