Public Opinion: Where Does It Stand on the Question of Amnesty for Political Prisoners?

Chicago, Illinois: General Defense Committee [Industrial Workers of the World / I.W.W. / IWW], [September, 1923]. Pamphlet. 32 pp. Octavo [23 cm]; saddle-stapled in illustrated wraps. Some light age toning and wear, especially around the edges of the wraps. Very Good. Item #68513

"A call for amnesty for wartime political prisoners" (Miles 4448).

Page one states, "the following editorials—most of them excerpts—were compiled from a huge number of similar statements from the metropolitan newspapers and magazines of America. A few from the liberal, religious and labor press are included also. The editorials offered below are indicitave of numerous others that do not appear." This work reprints sixty said excerpts in the text.

The front cover illustration of a prisoner shackled to a ball and chain (entitled "Is This to be the Story of Free Speech In America?") is attributed to one "Ellis" who we can't currently otherwise identify. The text contains twelve additional small in-text illustrations (which appear to be reproductions from some of the exerpted publications).
