Bath, UK: George Bayntun, 1925. Newly edited edition. Leather Bound. 1172pp. Quarto [24 cm] 3/4 red leather with pale green cloth, raised bands, and gilt stamping on the spines. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers. Extremities lightly rubbed and subtly sunned. Underlying boards peeking through at the corners. Presentation bookplates awarding diligent study with the seal of Harvard University in New England on the front pastedowns. The awardee is Roberto Lee Walker- most likely American physicist Robert Lee Walker (1919-2005), who matriculated at Harvard in 1937, and transferred a year later to the University of Chicago. After a brief time there as a graduate student, he joined the Manhattan Project. He also worked at Los Alamos. After the war, he continued his graduate work at Cornell, earning his PhD in 1948. He joined the Caltech faculty in 1949 as assistant professor, becoming associate professor in 1953, full professor in 1959, and emeritus professor in 1981. He died in Tesuque, New Mexico. Very Good.
