Glasgow's reputation in architecture and the decorative arts was in full bloom in the late 1890s. Scottish architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh (1868-1928) is regarded as the father of Glasgow style. His work heavily influenced European movements in design including Art Nouveau and Secessionism.
