This work collects nearly 100 poems selected from fourteen limited edition books. William Stafford received a National Book Award for poetry, a Guggenheim Fellowship, and a Shelley Memorial Award. He served as Consultant in Poetry to the Library of Congress in 1970-71. Graywolf Press was founded in 1974, in Port Townsend, Washington, by Scott Walker. Graywolf was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization in 1984, and then later in 1985, thanks in part to generous support from the National Endowment for the Arts and from local philanthropic organizations, they moved to Minnesota (Graywolf Press).
