This book celebrates many African cultures, A-Z, with illustrations showing emblems of each culture alongside easy-to-read and interesting descriptions for children. The vibrant illustrations were painted with watercolor, pastels, and acrylic. Illustrators Leo Dillon and Diane Sorber met while studying at the Parsons School of Design. Subsequently, they became faithful partners in life and art. They produced two Caldecott Medal books, Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears and Ashanti to Zulu: African Traditions.
