Accordion-folding artist's book composed of blue cloth boards with color paper cover label and folding color lithographic interior. With a folded sheet at the front revealing the artist's symbols. The key is in French, English, and German. Very minor slant to boards. Light foxing to the key and copyright pages. In superior condition. Housed in a lucite slipcase. The book is in very good plus condition, and the slipcase is in very good condition, with prononunced scratching to the surface. Item #71112
A bright and colorful visual reinterpretation of Cinderella by the noted Swiss artist. Graphic designer Warja Lavater (1913-2007) was known for her series of fairy tales told in symbols and lithographed into folding books. Her first accordion-folding book was published in 1962 and was titled "William Tell." Lavater is considered to be an early artist working in the artists' books genre.
