An interesting illustrated production of the classic. Paul McPharlin was a famous puppeteer and graphic artist with a background in stage design. The bright white illustrations take full advantage of the negative space of the stark black pages. The rose-colored paper with black printed text provides a lovely contrast. The colophon states: "Of this volume for the Fine Book Circle there are 950 copies, designed and illustrated by Paul McPharlin, and printed in Detroit, during the summer of 1936. This copy is Number 212."
