SIGNED. 1167pp. Thick octavo [23 cm] Blue cloth over boards with the title in gilt against a blue ink stamped background on the spine. Author's initials gilt- stamped in facsimile on the front board. Publisher's blue topstain (faded near the head of the spine). Blue ink stamping on spine a bit rubbed. Previous owner's bookplate on front pastedown. Text block cracked at the title page. In the clear mylar wrapper which has two small edge chips, along with a loss from the top edge, measuring approximately 3" wide by 1" deep. Housed in the publisher's green paper covered slipcase, with fading along the edges, a couple of short gouges at the head, a light 3 1/2" scratch to the side panel, and the underlying boards very occasionally peeking through along the edges. Russian-born American author Ayn Rand's magnum opus. "Atlas Shrugged" was the last novel published during her lifetime (1905-1982), and it is one of the most influential novels of the 20th century. The novel, which took twelve years to write, dramatizes her unique vision of existence, describing a future United States on the brink of economic collapse after years of collectivist misrule.
