Utah artist and cartoonist John Held, Jr. (1889-1958) was one of the best-known magazine illustrators of the 1920s. He is known for his uniquely styled cartoons depicting people dancing, driving, playing sports, and participating in other popular activities of the time. His work epitomized the Jazz Age and he became famous for his portrayals of the 1920s flapper girls.
